Caretaker duty in The CAT
Tase, Arrest Cat, jail — then hold the toilet, the cards, and the cages instead of farming shotgun clips.
Caretaker is the security job in The CAT (The Cat Shelter). You are a vet or guard on a 26-player Roblox server, trying to keep Ikigai Cybercore Studios’ shelter from emptying into the city. Cats pickpocket, smash toilets, dig walls, and rescue cages. You tase, you arrest, you walk them to jail. If you play this role like a shooter, you will farm knock-downs and still lose the building.
This page is the duty manual. Role identity, team fantasy, and morph talk live on the caretaker role page. Gun ranking lives on weapons. Pass ranking lives on gamepasses. First-hour orientation stays on Getting Started. Read those after you can complete one clean tase-arrest-jail without shooting the cat into a ragdoll you cannot cuff.
The CAT released on 28 April 2026 as free-to-play online roleplay. Caretaker is a free team. You do not need a pass to hold a taser. You may need a pass to join a full vet team, and you may want a pass once you understand why cats keep leaving through the floor.
The tase, arrest, jail loop
Order matters. Taser first. Arrest Cat second. Jail third. The taser is the disable. Arrest Cat is the cuff. Jail is the deposit. Skip the middle step and you have a stunned cat that stands up and steals your keycard. Skip the last step and you have a cuffed cat you are babysitting in a hallway while three others break a toilet.
Baton and shotgun exist on the unpaid kit for pressure and panic. They are not a replacement for Arrest Cat. A shotgun cat that is not jailed is a cat that is still in the round. If you dump a clip into a runner and then forget the prompt, you taught the lobby that vets do not finish jobs.
The safety zone is caretaker ground. Cats cannot enter it. Use it to reload your brain, not to hide from the job. If every vet is in the safety zone, the toilet is being broken unopposed.
Rainbow Leash at 25 Robux arrests twice as fast. That is the one cheap pass that actually shortens this loop. Buy it after you already hit the Arrest Cat prompt on purpose, not before you know the prompt exists.
Hold the rooms cats actually use
Cats leave through a short list of ideas. Your patrol should match that list, not a random walk.
Keycards: cats steal them off your back. Face teammates or a wall when you idle. If a cat is glued to a vet’s spine, that is a pickpocket, not a friendly nuzzle. Turn, tase, arrest. A cat that already holds a card is painted — they are your current priority because that card opens a cleaner exit than a toilet smash.
Toilet and sewers: cats use cat attack to break the toilet and drop. This is the most camped route in the game for a reason. One vet in the pipes beats three vets posing in the lobby. Do not all camp it; leave at least one body on cards and cages. Do not never camp it; an empty sewer is a free leave.
Diggable walls and tunnels: listen for cats stacked on a corner. A public dig is a waypoint. Interrupt it early. A finished hole you ignored is a silent leak for the rest of the session.
Cages: group rescue is a real breakout. Cats still inside need cats already out, or a pile of friends on the lock. If you only chase runners, the cages convert into a raid. Peek cages on a timer the same way you peek the toilet.
Angel morph jumps are rare. You will not counter a morph you never see. Play the four common routes. Celebrate if you tase an angel; do not rebuild your shift around it.
Weapons without turning into deathmatch
Free tools are taser, baton, shotgun, and the arrest-jail pair. That is enough to run a shelter if you hold space. Paid guns change how you hold space, not whether you are allowed to play.
HMG is 149 Robux. AWM is 149 Robux. Both are lobby magnets. They help when a feral pack is already loud. They hurt when you miss Arrest Cat because you are scoped on a cat you should have cuffed ten seconds ago.
Elite SWAT is 249 Robux: riot shield with 200 HP, M4A1, and +40% HP. That package is for people who already understand sewer stands and hallway holds. The shield is a door, not a license to ignore cages.
Elite Cat Surgeon is 299 Robux: a tranquilizer better than the taser and +150 HP. If your failure mode is “they keep getting up before I arrest,” this is the pass that addresses the actual loop. It is still a tase-equivalent into Arrest Cat, not a sniper fantasy.
Director is 549 Robux and grants weapons to vets. That is a team-wide spend. Do not buy it to fix a personal aim problem. Private Jail is 399 Robux if you want a personal deposit instead of the shared walk. CAT HAT is 259 Robux; this wiki does not invent a combat perk for it.
Premium at 399 Robux and El Gato at 549 Robux are unpublished. There are no perks to list. Anyone selling a Premium loadout guide is guessing.
Rank the rest on weapons and gamepasses when you are ready to spend. Bypass Team Limit at 79 Robux is not a gun. It is a queue pass for when the vet team is full. Use it if you only play this side and keep getting bounced. Skip it if you are happy to take a cat spawn and learn the other half of the round.
Team limit, numbers, and who should swap
Servers cap at 26 players. Team limits stop one side from becoming a steamroll. If you cannot join caretaker, the team is full. That is working as designed. Cats who cannot join cat are in the same boat. Argue in chat if you want; the Bypass pass is the actual override.
A healthy caretaker shift is not eight vets in the safety zone and two cats in a tunnel. Spread. One sewer, one card watch, one cage circuit, one floater who answers painted targets. If your entire team is hunting the same runner, someone is breaking a toilet behind you.
Hairballs, climbs, and Shift sprints are cat tools you should recognize even if you never use them. A cat that stops, turns, and sits on your back is pickpocketing. A cat that sprints past you toward the bathroom is not lost. Play the intention, not the cute morph.
What success looks like on this team
A good caretaker session is measured in jailed cats and still-closed routes, not in a kill feed. The CAT is not a horror hunt and not Catch the Cat. You are staff. Staff who only shoot become scenery. Staff who tase, arrest, jail, and then return to the toilet keep the shelter recognizable.
After a cat does leave, the round continues in the city. That is their problem and also yours if the design lets vets pursue. Do not abandon cages because three ferals are posing outside. The building still has cats in it. Read how to escape once so you can see your own building the way a cat sees it. Then come back to this page and stand where that guide told them to run.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for The CAT on Roblox.
What is the correct caretaker combo in The CAT?
Taser first, Arrest Cat second, walk them to jail third. Baton and shotgun are pressure tools. Skipping arrest is how cats stand up and steal your keycard.
Should I camp the sewers all game?
Park at least one vet on the toilet-to-sewer drop. Do not put the whole team there. Cards, cages, and dig spots still leak if everyone lives in the pipes.
Which gamepass actually helps arrests?
Rainbow Leash at 25 Robux arrests twice as fast. Elite Cat Surgeon at 299 Robux replaces the taser with a stronger tranquilizer. Compare the rest on the gamepass tier list.
Why can’t I join the caretaker team?
Team limits are active on 26-player servers. Wait for a slot or use Bypass Team Limit at 79 Robux. Role rules are on the caretaker role page.
Can cats enter the safety zone?
No. The safety zone is blocked for cats. Use it to reset, then leave it. A full vet team hiding there is how toilets get broken.
Do unpublished passes like Premium change this guide?
No. Premium at 399 Robux and El Gato at 549 Robux are unpublished, so this page lists no perks for them. Stick to documented tools on weapons.
