Playing Caretaker in The CAT
Hold the shelter, recapture cats, then hunt ferals — taser first, rifles optional.
Caretaker is the security side of The CAT. Chat will also call you a vet or a guard. This wiki treats those labels as the same team: you stun, you Arrest Cat, you jail, you hunt. There is no proven third roster with a separate spawn. If a patch publishes one, this page will split. Until then, you have one job with two maps — inside the shelter and out in the city.
The tutorial version of the kit lives in the caretaker guide. Gun letters live on the weapons list. Robux letters live on the gamepass ranking. This page is the role loop.
The security loop
Spawn on the security side. Check the team count. If you are one of three vets against a shelter full of morphs, you do not wander. You hold space. If you are stacked and cats are scarce, you can hunt early. The loop is always the same four verbs: see, stun, arrest, jail. Then reset.
Shift sprints. Use it to close on a cat who committed to a hallway, not to wander the entire map at top speed with your back to the bathrooms. The taser is the S-rank free tool; Arrest Cat is the scoring tool. A stun that does not become a jail is a delay the cat will spend on a toilet.
When a cat breaks a bathroom, someone on your side has to go. When a cat is waving a keycard, someone has to take that cat first. When nobody is watching the sewer, the S-rank exit is free. Role play here is less “patrol in a circle” and more “cover the thing that is actually leaking.”
Safety zone
Caretakers get a safety zone. Use it as a reset, not as a house you live in. Heal, re-kit, look at the map, then leave. A security team that stacks in the zone while toilets pop is how a 26-player server becomes a highlight reel for cats.
The zone is also where new vets hide after they lose a chase. That is allowed once. The second time, you are feeding. Walk back to the leak.
If Director is in the lobby and starts granting weapons, the zone is where those rifles appear in the round. Take the gun if it is granted. Do not AFK next to the crate.
Recapture inside the shelter
Inside, you are a jailer. Priority targets:
- The cat holding a keycard. That morph opens doors the rest of the team cannot.
- The cat mid toilet-break. Interrupt before the pipe.
- The cat sitting on a cage trying to rescue. Rescue is an A-rank exit if you let it finish.
- Everyone else.
Baton and shotgun exist for the scramble at the bars. They are A-rank free tools on the weapons page because they finish fights the taser started. They are not a reason to ignore Arrest Cat. Recapture is the score.
Rainbow Leash (25 R$) doubles arrest if you bought it. That is a multiplier on the scoring action, not a new role. Elite SWAT and Elite Cat Surgeon are pay-to-win combat if you want HP and a rifle or dart. None of those passes replace watching a bathroom.
City hunt
Cats who already left become ferals. Your job does not end at the front door. The city is where recapture is harder: more space, stolen guns, and — if they own it — a Golden AK at the feral base from Boss Mafia Cat. Hunt in pairs when you can. A solo taser into a mafia base is a donation.
Do not abandon a leaking shelter to chase one feral across the map unless the inside is actually stable. The role is shelter first, city second. A vet who only hunts downtown while toilets explode behind them is playing a different game.
When you land a city arrest, get the cat into jail. Lingering for a screenshot is how the next feral shoots you in the back.
Director granting guns
Director (549 R$) publishes a lobby power: grant weapons to vets. If you own it, you are running the round. Grant to people who already jail cats, not to the friend who wanted a rifle for a clip. If you do not own it, you still need to know it exists, because a granted M4A1 or HMG changes how cats peek.
This is not a personal aimbot pass. It is a server modifier. Role etiquette: do not grant into a 20-vet stomp unless the table asked for chaos. The cat side still has to be playable or the lobby dies.
Habits that separate a useful caretaker from a camper
- Taser plus Arrest Cat before any store purchase.
- One bathroom assignment on a short security team.
- Safety zone as a pit stop, not a house.
- Card-holders first, then toilet-breakers, then everyone else.
- City hunts after the shelter is stable.
- Shift-sprint to close, not to tour.
For loadouts, stay on weapons and gamepasses. For the longer tactics write-up, use the caretaker guide.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers for The CAT on Roblox.
What is the caretaker's main job in The CAT?
Stun, Arrest Cat, jail, then hunt ferals. Recapture is the score. Rifles are optional modifiers around that loop.
Are vet and caretaker different roles?
Not as a proven split. Players use both labels for the security side. This page treats them as one team.
What does the safety zone do?
It is a reset: re-kit and leave. Stacking in the zone while toilets pop is how cats take the round.
Should I buy a gun before I learn the role?
No. Learn taser and Arrest Cat first. Then read weapons and gamepasses if you still want paid tools.
What does Director do for caretakers?
Director can grant weapons to vets. That is lobby control. Take the gun if it is granted, then still jail cats.
When do I hunt the city?
After the shelter is stable, or when a feral is the only leak. Do not abandon bathrooms to chase one stray forever.
